As Americans make holiday plans in the summer of 2025, a consideration can be international travel warnings of state departments of the United States. The Federal Agency issues a travel notice, with levels ranging from “exercise of normal precautions” to “not travel”, for each country.
The notice level indicates how much caution recommends that the department have travelers if you choose to visit another nation.
Level 1 advises travelers who exercise normal precautions, since there is some risk in all international trips. Level 2 recommends greater caution about some “risks with security for security.” Level 3 suggests that Americans reconside to travel to that country due to “serious security risks”, and level 4 advise all those who do not travel to that location.
The State Department weighs several factors by issuing notices, including crime levels, threats of terrorism, civil disturbances, health conernos and the possibility of a natural disaster.
Countries may also have multiple levels if some areas represent more or a risk than others. The warnings are reviewed and regularly updated by the State Department.
The following map shows the notices by country. Case on a country to see what notice the warning has and look for a specific nation in the table.
