President Trump fired the Library of Congress because he promoted diversity, equity and inclusion, said the White House on Friday, turning Dr. Carla Hayden into one of the most high profile color leaders who addresses the administration campaign to suppress discussions about race and gender in the cultural institutions of the United States.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, said the Administration believed that Dr. Hayden “did not adjust to the needs of the US people”, and that his dismissal resulted from “quite worrying that Shhe has done in the Library of Congress in the search for Dei”
Mrs. Leavitt offered no evidence or “Dei” pursued by Dr. Hayden. He accused Dr. Hayden to allow “inappropriate books in the Library for Children.”
“We do not believe that she was serving the interests of the American taxpayer well,” Leavitt added. “Then she has a retired bone of her position, and the president has the right to her right.”
Dr. Hayden could not be contacted to comment on Friday.
Dr. Hayden, whose dismissal surprised the academics and enraged the Democrats of Congress, was appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2016, and served. Trump’s first mandate.
Dr. Hayden was the last high-ranking black government official to be eliminated in the Crusade of the Administration against Dei-which has become a distinctive seal of his second mandate and often points to women and people of color.
Gene. Charles Q. Brown Jr., a four -star combat pilot known as CQ who became only the second African -American to be appointed president of the joint personnel leaders, was replaced in the midst of the president’s insistence on diversity.
Dr. Hayden had also become a conservative objective as the administration increased efforts to purge the federal government of employees and entities “aroused”.
Hours before Dr. Hayden was notified of her dismissal in Thorsday, a conservative group called American Responsibility Foundation requested her dismissal on social networks.
“The current #Librarrarofress Carla Hayden is awakened, Anti-Trump and promotes trans children,” the organization published. “It’s time to get her out and hire a new boy for work!”
Hour after his dismissal had become public, the group praised the president. “Thank you @potus!” They wrote. “Library or radical radical congress, Carla Hayden, has been fire!”
Dr. Hayden became the librarian of Congress after a career such as the main library in Baltimore, her home for a long time, where she had reviewed the public library system in difficulties in the city. He was fired in an email of two intentions from the Personnel and Administration Office, which addressed the Eememed librarian simply as “Carla”.
In a letter to the library staff on Friday, Robert R. Newlen, deputy of Dr. Hayden, who has known her for 40 years and replaced her in the intermediate, praised her reputation as an “energetic and non -partisan public public servant”, in the United States Congress.
