The Detroit lions and Kerby Joseph security agreed an extension of four years worth $ 86 million, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported Wednesday.

The agreement will be activated at the beginning of the 2026 season and will turn Joseph, 24, the best paid security in the NFL, with an average annual value (AAV) or $ 21.5 million. Behind him are Antoine Winfield from Tampa Bay ($ 21.025 million) and Derwin James from Los Angeles Chargers ($ 19,133m).

The lions selected Joseph in the third round of the NFL 2022 Draft. He led the NFL with nine interceptions in 2024 and was appointed the first All-Pro-Pros team for the first time in his career.

He had a two-interest game in week 17 when the lions beat the San Francisco 49ers 40-34. He also had six cups, including a Tackle for loss, in the Divisional Round of the NFC when the lions lost 45-31 against Washington’s commanders.
