But a recent study shows that fans’ favorite contains great significant amounts of arsenic: the toxic chemist famous in the old school poison suddenly in murder mysteries.

The researchers analyzed the data of rice samples and found that brown rice contains 24% more arsenic and 40% more inorganic arsenic, a known carcinogen, than white rice.

Chronic arsenic consumption can cause skin problems and digestive problems, as well as a greater risk of diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

WHO observes that early childhood exposure “has been linked to negative impacts on cognitive development and increased deaths in young adults.”

In fact, the researchers of the new study noticed that “there is a potential risk for the harmful exposure to the arsenic of the integral rice between children under five years of age,” since they can eat more foods in relation to their body weight than adults.

Integral rice tends to accumulate higher levels of arsenic the concentrates of toxic elements in the external layers of the grain, which are retained in the integral rice but the white rice processing is presented.

This means that, while integral rice can offer more fiber and nutrients, it also offers a hinger or arsenic dose.

But do not be scared: the researchers pointed out that “the exhibition for most Americans within the analysis did not increase to a level that was a concern to represent high risks of harmful health results.”

As such, they do not count to avoid complete integral rice. They simply rush to diversify grain options and use cooking methods that can reduce arsenic content, such as thorough rice and cooking in excess water, especially for younger children.

The FDA has previously issued a guide on the consumption of limitation rice for babies and pregnant women, due to the evidence that the inorganic exposure of arsenic has been related to the problems of brain development and the risk of cancer.
