American Airlines plans to launch Wi-Fi on board free in most of its fleet from next year.

The carrier is AT&T partner to sacrifice the service, which will be available exclusive to the members of the loyalty program, which makes it the last airline to direct the advantages towards frequent flyers.

As of January 2026, American Airlines will offer Wi-Fi aboard exclusively courtesy to the members of their Aadvantage loyalty program, which is free to join, which covers more 2 million flights annually, according to the carrier.

The airline says that this movement makes Wi-Fi available in 90% of its fleet or “more airplanes than any other national carrier.”

To support the deployment, American is working to equip more than 500 regional aircraft with high speed Wi-Fi at the end of 2025.

“This was a natural association in all aspects: two iconic brands based in Texas, known for innovation and connection,” said Heather Garboden, customer director of American Airlines, in a statement.

While Wi-Fi was available in American, he had a cost. According to your website, the customer can pay $ 10 per flight for access to the service, or you can obtain monthly or annual passes for up to two devices.

The monthly passes ranged from approximately $ 50 for a device at $ 60 for two. The annual passes were approximately $ 600 for a device or around $ 700 for two.

Delta Air Lines beat American until the coup, offering the free service with T-Mobile in 2023. Free Wi-Fi can now be notified in most of Delta’s national flights for Skymile members.

The United Airlines passengers will be the following with Wi-Fi in free flight that is expected to be launched in May through the Elon Musk broadband satellite service, Starlink.

The FAA approved the first plane equipped with United Starlink in March. Its first commercial flight has been scheduled for May, only eight months after reaching the agreement with the Spacex subsidiary.

Starlink Access will be free and is available for all customers who have a Millajaplus membership, which is also free to register.
