Call me outdated, but -31 is a crazy score for a PGA Tour event.
I doubt Scottie Scheffler cares too much. The world number one was absolutely dominant in TPC Craig Ranch in the CJ Cup and, in fact, published a 31 foundations winning score. Erik Van Rotoyen ended in second place, describing for the true in the process by the way, eight blows back. Imagine shooting down and not winning!
It was Scottie’s first victory of the season for anyone who kept the score at home and his 14th in general. The officer became the 72nd player in the history of the tour to tell 14 victories. The victory also marks four consecutive seasons in which Scheffler has emerged as winner.
Obviously, it has a lot of time that Scheffler has this dominant figure in our lives from a golf perspective. Now it is sitting in 103 weeks as the number one in the world, the third longest streak of all time.
While people will sacrifice thoughts about the course settings last week, it is worth noting that you can only play the course in front of you. Scheffler did exactly that and tied the lowest score at a 72 -hole event on the tour since 1983:
- 253 – Scottie Scheffler, 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson
- 253 – Ludvig Aberg, 2023 RSM Classic
- 253 – Justin Thomas, 2017 Sony Open in Hawaii
- 254 – Dustin Johnson, 2020 Fedex St. Jude Championship
- 254 – Tommy Armor III, 2003 Valero Texas Open
As for the players that Scheffler tied at Ludvig Aberg and Justin Thomas, both are winners this season for their own right and exclusive events. Aberg won the invitational genesis, while Thomas Tok at home the inheritance of RBC. Among those things, Rory Mcilroy won the players and teachers! Mcilroy also won at Pebble Beach before Geis.
The general point here is that the professional golf is in a very solid place. The PGA Championship will bring with it next week, where all these players will seek to reach the top at Quail Hollow.
But first … another exclusive event in the real championship!
