Miami, Florida – Lance Stroll was lost to advance Q2 in the qualification for Sprint F1 career here at the Miami Grand Prix, and Aston Martin’s pilot has an idea of why.
Nothing less than the pilot champion Max Verstappen.
As Stroll was in his final lap at the end of the first quarter, he met Verstappen in the racing line near the 17th curve. Verstappen was not on his own lap and maintained a slower pace, which forced him to walk around him.
On the Paseo del Auto, he told his team at that time “[m]An, the guy in the last corner was very dangerous. He simply stayed in the [racing] Line. “
The second quarter was lost for only 0.114 seconds, but believes that if it were not for Verstappen, it would have advanced.
“We have just had traffic all the way,” Stroll told the official F1 channel after the session. “Verstappen [was] Completely in the middle of the track in the last corner.
“So we had to stop inside the track and lost like three or four tenths right there. So we will see what happens.”
Stroll indicated that he hopes that career officials analyze the matter.
“It simply costs him back,” added Aston Martin driver. “They are just tenths who leave the window.
“I hope you investigate it because we can all do that and drive in the line, it’s not so fun for boys in laps. But we’ll see what happens.”
It seems that Stroll will get his wish. Verstappen has been summoned to meet with career officials for an alleged failure to follow the notes of the career director.
