With the Formula 1 grid returning to the United States for the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, we thought it was a perfect time to open the mailbag.

However, over time aligned with the NFL 2025 draft, some football questions are created. So … something for everyone!

Ah, yes, a beautiful question to start, with the NFL draft recently coming to an end.

Honestly, I think there are more differences than similarities.

Open, brutal honesty is strange in NFL. To the point that when a coach or a player really opens, he becomes a meme. Do you think of Jim Mora’s “playoffs”? Rant, or Dennis Green “are the ones who think they were” explosion after the game.

It feels very, very different.

Last year’s Miami Grand Prix was my first F1 career as a member of the media accredited by the FIA.

And I was completely lost. Literally and figuratively. It took me hours to discover how to enter the paddock, you know, that it is in the middle of the huge stage of the NFL, and equally longer to discover where to go and when. The best example could have a leg with the catering situation. The press area for media members is at the press release level of the Hard Rock stadium. I could only find this area with sandwiches and assumed that things like chips, cookies and corn popcorn together with drinks were everything they offered.

Until Saturday night, when I smelled some fish and uploaded a game of stairs to what looked like a restaurant, at the club level. Where there were food for miles, including some of the best cod I have had. I had no idea that I was basically there for three days, and I was living in cookies and soft drinks.

Which is not usually bad but still …

So it took time to get my media legs under me. I did not ask many questions in media scrums, press conferences or similar, deferring those around me. I was happy to take everything. Another excellent example was the availability of the press after Frederic Vasseur’s career in the hospitality space of Ferrari. I am quite sure that I was the only media member who did not ask a question.

Fred also knew, because he smiled and bought me after he finished giving his final answer. I appreciated that.

Then came the United States Grand Prix in Austin. With that as my second F1 career as a media member, I felt much more comfortable asking questions in scrums, hospitality and similar spaces. I interviewed Lewis Hamilton minutes after he left the initial part of the race, along with just another media member. Then the confidence level had increased by then.

I haven’t asked Fred a question yet. Hoping to change that this week.

Honestly? I think all of the above applies here.

Let’s start with a fact or life of media F1: controller transfer speculation and rumors click. Absolutely click, while my editors and bosses keep my brake. A deep immersion in a qualification performance using telemetry data? I love writing pieces like that, and you will like some this week, but they do not move the needle for massive page views.

Speculations about driver X leaving the team and for the Z team? What they click.

Especially when Max Verstappen is that driver.

Now, are there reasons to write those stories at this time? Sure. The RB21 is not the challenger that the team hoped to give Verstappen this year, at least not yet. While he is still and, as he said many times, and Christian Horner has admitted, Verstappen wants to have the fastest car. Each driver does it.

The concern in Red Bull that they cannot deliver the fastest car of the network is real.

Speculation only grows when there are points to connect, as there is with Verstappen. Of course, all network teams would love to sign it. But one can easily establish a Verstappen connection to Aston Martin given one, Adrian Newey and two, the next association with Honda. The leadership in the manufacturer has made it clear that they would love to work with Verstappen again, they promoted the four championships of their drivers, and again the connection is easy to do.

So, I think part of speculation is due to the fact that Driver Transfer News is a story to which all fans gravitate.
