The Denver Nuggets striker Aaron Gordon, has a laying in the hamstring and his availability is in doubt for game 7 against Thunder in Oklahoma City on Sunday, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
The person spoke with Associated Press based on anonymity on Friday night because the reach of the injury has not yet been announced. Gordon grabbed his hamstring at the end of Denver’s victory in 119-107 over Thunder on Thursday to tie his second round series.
The winner advances to the finals of the West Conference, where they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Gordon’s loss would be a significant blow to Nuggets, which usually only only their Banco players rotate in the game. If Gordon can’t go, Peyton Watson or Russell Westbrook could start instead.
Gordon has been an integral part of the Nuggets race through the playoffs this season, which includes a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games during the first round. It is again 16.8 points, the most in a postseason, and 7.3 rebounds.
Gordon, 29, helped Nuggets to his only NBA championship in 2023.
In the locker room after Thursday, Gordon said his hamstrings felt “well.”
“It is simply completely sure what happened,” Gordon explained. “I’m just going to recover, see what I can do in game 7”
Gordon was limited to 51 games in the regular season, since he dealt with a stroboscopic calf of the calf and a left ankle of the sprain. Averaged 14.7 points.
Michael Porter. Jr. also hit with a strobe left shoulder.
Associated Press reports.
