Fred Vanvlete scored 26 points, Amen Thompson added 25 and the Houston Rockets avoid the elimination with a 131-116 defeat of the Golden State Warriors in game 5 of a first-round playoff series on Wednesday night.

Game 6 is Friday in San Francisco.

The Warriors coach Steve Kerr, launched the Tawel at the beginning of this game with the game out of control. A halfway Vanvleet tray during the third quarter did it 93-64, and Kerr called Timeout and cleared his bank.

Houston’s coach, Ime Uudoka, did the same with approximately one minute to go in the third and his team rose 105-76. He returned to all his headlines with about eight minutes after Golden State reduced the advantage to 109-92.

Dillon Brooks added 24 points on one night when the five Houston scored in double figures.

A 9-5 race for the Warriors took them within 114-101 before a failure broke out about four minutes to the end. Pat Spencer pushed Brooks and then was expelled after he hit Alperen Sengun in the posterior fight.

Houston gets used to a 7-2 race after that to keep the game.

The Rockets gathered their best game in this postseason to extend the series after losing both games in California, including game 3, which Jimmy Butler sat down with an injury.

They ran to an advantage of 14 points after a room and when Stephen Curry made their first basket in a triple in the middle of the second, led 55-32.

They had an advantage of 27 points in the part -time behind 19 points of Vanvleet.

Butler achieved only eight points in 25 minutes in 2 of 10 shots after combining 52 points in the two complete games he had played in this series.

Curry was 4 of 12 by 13 points after scoring more than 30 points in two of the first four games to move the Warriors inside a series game.

The Warriors made 15 of 44 triples and fired 41.7% in general. The rockets made 13 of 30 3s and fired 55.1%.

When extending the series, Rockets have the opportunity to become the 14th team in the NBA history to overcome a 3-1 deficit in a series of the best of seven. Houston has done it twice, more recently in the semifinals of the West Conference 2015 against the Clippers.

The Warriors were at the wrong end of such return, losing the 2016 NBA finals against LeBron James and Cleveland after having a 3-1 advantage.

Golden State has dominated rockets in the playoffs, eliminating them four times between 2015 and 2019.
