The draft is not the whole, it all ends when it comes to improving a team, but idly should represent a long -term vision. The NFL draft is about building the base, so free agency is about patching the holes. The most successful teams know this and find forms of year, year to ensure that they have a constant rotation of good players ready to intensify, which allows them to turn the expensive and aging veterans.
Obviously, each main office has a vision of how they are built. At least one would wait. But there is still a job to do for many teams in the League. Let’s focus on the teams that we expected to take huge steps forward in the draft, but did not reach the brand.
Minnesota Vikings
I absolutely see what Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adafo-Humanah are trying to do when it comes to overloading the offensive to give JJ McCarthy their best Chanance to succeed, but that has not scratched my head a little.
Donovan Jackson had a very good quality relationship -price at pick 24, and I will never hate with a player who needs in a key position like the interior line. That said, Jackson assuming a security like Malaki Starks feels too much that reminds Minnesota to move from selection No. 14 in 2022 and let Baltimore get Kyle Hamilton. Even so, I can forgive this.
It is the selection of Tai Felton in the third that I really don’t like. Of course, you can get the top of the defense and be a devastating kick, but the receiver was too luxurious with a selection of day two when it only has five selections in the draft. At some point you must help Brian Flores without continuing to wait for a wonderful cast.
There is more than a way to help a young QB, and ensure that it has a defense that is good enough so that you do not need to win constantly in shootings is one of them. I would have liked to see the Vikings do much more with their secondary and defensive line in this draft.
Houston Texans
The Texans draft really wasn’t bad. I only hate the lack of positional awareness. If the general idea is to let CJ Stoud throw for 5,000 yards and be fired 50 times, then this is a good way to do it.
Currently, Houston has more receptors than they know what to do. The main office was backed to a position in which had To load on the offensive line to protect your QB from the franchise, and in their place two of its first three selections passed in the passes receptors.
This is an organization that only needs to continue throwing bodies to the OL until they obtain good protection. Stribu Bee An intermediate to deep launch means needs more pocket time, and this dress was not enough to address that.
Santos de New Orleans
It is fair to question if the team has a plan. Mickey Loomis has not done enough in the last 13 years as GM to justify the benefit of doubt in its sense.
The Saints were locked in the idea of taking an offensive Tackle at number 9 to the point that they arrived horrendously for Kelvin Banks JR, who could end up being a guard when everything is said and done. If they had taken into account that there were better guards at the Board.
Let’s say we give you a thought of pass and Banks ends well. After night, you could say “the Saints go to tanks for a QB in 2026”. Then they take Tyler Shegh with the 40th General Selection.
How many mediocre fields are trying to collect? Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, now Shouse, who is old that Rattler and only six months younger than Haener. There is no vision behind this process. If we only look at this through Rosa’s most dyed glasses, Shegh could make the Saints choose the number 9 or 10 next year. They miss the elite QB as a result of one more, and enhancedly they have to trade, with the pressure of the people who think it should be the guy, when it is destined to be medium in the best case.
There was so much mediocrity in this kind of draft when this team desperately needed to find reliable headlines. I just don’t understand.
Cincinnati Bengals
It seems that this team was in the Super Bowl and becoming a perennial stallion was a million years ago. Yo love Shemar Turner as a perspective, from there, this draft went a bit out of the rails.
Cincinnati was forced to collect the advantage due to the concerns about Trey Hendrickson left, I understand. This is still a team that allowed 48 captures last year and did not do enough to reinforce its OL in the Draft. Dylan Fairchild and Jalen Rivers are simply not enough help, and I don’t think neither can become incoming.
There was a clear need to improve defensive, I understand it, but not at the expense of continuing to kill Joe Burrow.
