The Browns’ reaction to the Shedeur Sanders pick was … subdued [VIDEO]

The Cleveland Browns made a great movement of the Draft on Saturday, selecting the Colorado Campo Mariscal Shedeur Sanders in the Fifth Round of the NFL 2025 Draft. The movement occurred after the team passed a selection of the third late round in the Oregon Field Marshal, Dillon Gabriel.

It was a curious movement to add a second rookie to the field Marshal, not entirely shocking. And the opportunity to land Sanders in the fifth round sacrifices some value for a guy that many thought would go the first day, if not on day two.

The reactions in the Browns war room suggest a top -down approach for this choice. General Manager Andrew Berry and chief coach Kevin Stefanski were seen that they offered educated applause, but not much on the path of emotion about Sanders’ landing.

As Ollie pointed out, this suggests that perhaps the owner of the Browns, Jimmy Haslam, had something to say in this choice. And Adam Schefter offered some details that could support that. The indicated Deion and Shedeur had “developed a relationship with Jimmy Hazlam duration of the process prior to the draft.”

There are a number of reasons why Hazlam could have pressed for the team to choose Sanders. At the end of the day, the NFL owners are the ones who pay the invoices and have to say that if they wish. It is generally not ideal for an owner to make football decisions, but the richest person in the room generally has the greatest power when it comes to the final decision making.

Whatever the reasoning to draw Sanders, as Terrell Owens told us, “prepare your corn popcorn!”
