Pope Francis made a letter of appearance at St. Peter’s Square on Sunday at the end of a Palm Sunday service, greeting the crowds of his wheelchair while continuing to recover from double pneumonia.

“Happy Palm Sunday, happy Holy Week,” said the Pope, before returning once inside the Vatican, occasionally stopping to speak to the faithful, including a group of enchanted nuns.

Unlike last Sunday, when he made his first public appearance since he was discarded from the hospital three weeks ago, the Pope was not receiving oxygen through a small hose under his nose.

Francis, 88, was discarded from the hospital on March 23 after spending five weeks being treated by lung infection, which the doctor later said he had almost killed him.
