In 1972, Flight 571 of the Uruguayan Air Force, which transported five crew members and 40 passengers, including the Uruguayan Amateur Rugby team, fell into the mountains of the Andes. Twelve people died in the accident, and the others survived 72 days in the desert eating the bodies of their dead friends.
