Clayton Kershaw will make his debut in the season for Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday against Los Angeles Angels. The 37 -year -old left -hander began his 18th season with the team on the injured list while recovering from feet and knee surgeries.
His return arrives at a critical moment for the Dodgers, with the headlines Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow in the injured list. Another headline, Roki Sasaki, reported Soress’s arm after its most recent start and is now on the IL with the impact of the right shoulder.
“It’s a big shot in the arm,” said Manager Dave Roberts on Tuesday about Kershaw’s return. “Clayton has worked very hard to get healthy and the bar is high for him. He does not because to be active again. Hello, he wants to come and help us win baseball games and be good. I know he is excited to contribute.”
In total, the Dodgers have 15 pitchers in the IL, although that number includes Kershaw and the two -way Shohei Ohtani star, who leads the largest in scored races (44) as the designated team of the team.
Ohtani has not launched since 2023 after undergoing elbow surgery, but continued working to return to the mound. More recently, he launched 35 launches in a bullpen session on May 10.
Kershaw stuck to two and allowed a couple of races in two hits and two walks in the final beginning of triple-a oklahoma City on Sunday. He launched 57 releases around four tickets.
“The order of the last time was for his son of standards or tastes, but it was still very efficient, he realized and fails,” Roberts said. “With Clayton just returning, just add an element of certainty and performance.”
The three -time winner of the Cy Young award will tie Zack Wheat and Bill Russell for most of the year with the Dodgers franchise when he begins this weekend. He and Russell are the only players to register 18 seasons since the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Kershaw is the oldest player in the current list.
Kershaw has 32 strikeouts from reaching 3,000 to go with his 212 victories in his career.
He made only seven openings last year before his season ended in August due to the pain in his big left. He observed from the side while the Dodgers beat the New Yorkes to win their eighth world series title.
